Avoid the temptation to let a single overhead light be the source for illumination in a room. Including different types of lighting around the space can both soften the space and add dramatic focal points.

If you've hung some unique art pieces, accent them with lighting. Stained glass lamps add comfort and style, as well as brightening a room.

Finally, a themed lamp will give color and texture as well as light to a specific area.

Combining different types of lights will make any space more interesting.
